From the moment I met Katherine, she expressed a desire for something more than the ubiquitous wedding—an ethereal movement of fine art and sophistication that stood above. We explored a palette of warm tones, merging old-world elegance with contemporary compositions, inspired by the intricate “Butterfly Parade” charger plate by Christian Lacroix. With a mutual affection for butterflies, we drew design elements from this piece to build our story.

Transcendental, Ethereal, Timeless

Within the dark-paneled country club, we crafted a landscape balancing natural textures, clean lines, and graphic color accents. The unusual color story—dusty blues, chocolate browns, chartreuse, and pomegranate—played with the feminine natural world against the masculine energy of the venue’s historic architecture.

To soften the space and lift the gaze, we created sculptural trees of curly willow, dried hydrangea, and deconstructed bells of Ireland, with blooms ‘falling’ from the branches to form a canopy of suspended movement above the guests. Marble, crystal, and ceramic moon jars anchored the tables, while local garden roses and lisianthus added a touch of flirtatious abundance. A standout detail was the black pansies in crystal vases, their root systems visible through the glass, embodying the event’s delicate balance of strength and elegance.

As the guests were seated, patterned lighting was projected onto the floor, creating the immersive feeling of “dining under the trees.”

The head table was framed by a massive, foam-free garden installation centered on the fireplace, built with birch branches, hundreds of antique hydrangeas, ferns and moss. This focal point grounded the room, directing attention to the bride and groom. The crowning detail: ethically farmed, taxidermied Morpho butterflies, their vivid blue wings reflecting light like sapphires throughout the room.

Katherine’s bridal bouquet, inspired by her garden motif gown, featured lily of the valley, Dutch lilac, love in a puff, and wild smilax—perfectly complementing the day’s ethereal beauty.
